Why I Do What I Do — And Why It Matters Now More Than Ever
Why do I blog?
Why do I post all these videos on social media?
Why do I merchandise these products the way I do?
Why did I partner with companies like My Patriot Supply?
You see, at the age of 47, I’ve learned—like many of you—that life can change in an instant. One day you're planning your week, and the next, you’re flat on your back… or worse, face down in a gutter. Some things in life are out of your control. But how you respond? That’s always in your hands.
⚡ I Remember the Day That Changed Everything
I was a young father, living in New York State. The power went out—not because of a storm or an accident, but because there was too much demand on the grid.
It lasted a day and a half.
That same day, we were supposed to go grocery shopping. My wife and I loaded our two little girls into the car and drove to the ATM to grab cash for food.
We couldn't withdraw anything. The power was out.
I’ll never forget the feeling of helplessness. We didn’t have a generator. We didn’t have backup food. We were at the mercy of the grid… and the grid failed us.
That was the day I became a believer in solar and backup power. That was the day I learned how critical preparation really is.
π Then Came 2020
Most of you remember what happened: COVID hit, fear spread, shelves went empty, and rationing began. Even if stores had food, you couldn’t always buy it.
I’m not prepping out of fear — I’m doing what the Bible says:
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself…”
— Proverbs 22:3
If we can see the writing on the wall, it’s not panic — it’s wisdom to prepare.
That’s why I store food. That’s why I have backup power.
That’s why I share what I do.
π ️ I Didn't Have Anyone to Teach Me
When I started this journey, no one was there to help.
No YouTuber. No mentor. No blueprint.
Now, I want to be that for someone else.
That’s why I created my blog, my videos, and my newsletter — The Self-Reliance Signal — to help everyday people prepare for whatever might come next.
π‘ But Wait… Didn't Trump Kill the Solar Incentives?
Yes, federal incentives are changing. But let me be clear:
Solar is still one of the smartest moves you can make — especially with rising energy costs.
Manufacturing is returning to America, which means demand on the grid is increasing. Basic economics says that when demand rises, so does the price. Some people are already paying 43¢ per kilowatt-hour. That’s insane.
I’ve cringed opening my electric bill. I bet you have too.
Solar is about more than savings — it’s about independence. It’s about telling your utility company, “I’ve got this without you.”
